Arshavin: Denilson Worked Miracles

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that we will need a positive contribution from Denilson at some stage in the title race and the young Brazilian will have to raise his game. Song’s suspension and Fabregas’ injury gave him the opportunity sooner than I’d expected.

So, how has Denilson done in the last couple of weeks? I guess there will always be those who refuse to see the positives once they decide a player is useless. And there are some, like me, who are always willing to accept that a player has indeed done better than expected.

As long as we are dealing in opinion, only one really matters and Arsene has never doubted the young midfielder. His is not a name that comes up when the team mates talk to the media but the sharp shooting Arshavin was full of praise for the Denilson. Speaking to his website for the “After Match Interview” the Russian said,

Yes, he was the best in this game. Not because he scored early in the first half, but because he worked miracles in the second one. He kept on snatching the ball from West Ham players, he was everywhere, ahead of everybody like a “clockwork bunny”. In my opinion, Denilson showed phenomenal game.

One thing we can be sure about is that if Arshavin said these words he really meant them. It’s one thing I love about the diminutive Russian, he’s not afraid to speak his mind and tells it the way he sees it.

I don’t think one game will change the opinion of most fans. Almunia has been doing well for close to three months now and still people don’t rate him. Frankly, fans’ opinions don’t matter and that includes mine. As long as Denilson can impress his team mates and Le Boss, he’s doing just fine.
